Not convinced yet? For the month of may, our blog posts will include a different reason why you should have your hearing checked.

Reason 4: Hearing loss and Diabetes are related.

Diabetes and hearing loss are two of Canada’s most widespread health concerns. A recent study found that hearing loss is twice as common in people with diabetes as it is in those who don’t have the disease. Right now we don’t know how diabetes is related to hearing loss, and more research needs to be done to discover why people with diabetes have a higher rate of hearing loss.

If you are diabetic, it is important to have your ears screened regularly, just like your eyes. Be proactive about your hearing health; once you develop hearing loss, it is normally there for life. For that reason, we need to be proactive in monitoring those who are at risk for hearing loss.
