May is Hearing Health Month. Reasons why YOU should have your ears tested today!

May is speech and hearing month, dedicated to drawing attention to and building awareness of hearing and speech issues. People suffering from high blood pressure could also suffer from hearing loss as a result of their medical condition. Research has found a significant association between hypertension and hearing loss. Hearing loss in the population under study suggests that hypertension is an accelerating factor of degeneration of the hearing apparatus due to aging.

Another researcher further pointed out the urgent need for early intervention in patients who are possibly in danger of losing their hearing. “Hypertension is a trigger for several kinds of diseases but hearing loss affects quality of life and, therefore, it’s important to rectify it as early as possible” said Jagade.
