The Process

How do hearing tests work?

About the Assessment

Hearing loss has many causes. Age, middle ear issues, speech problems, and more. Some cases are complex and may need a specialist.

Our audiologists run a full set of tests. They look at the whole picture of your hearing health. They can also help refer you to a specialist through your family doctor.

Tests we run during your exam:

  • Case History — a short intake form
  • Otoscopy — a look inside your ear and ear canal
  • Tympanometry — a test of how your middle ear works
  • Threshold Test — checks what sounds you can hear
  • Speech Recognition — tested in a quiet setting
  • Speech In Noise Test — tested with background noise
  • Extended High Frequency Test — sounds above 8000Hz
Normal Hearing

We will plan routine check-ups to keep your hearing in good shape. Your audiologist can also suggest hearing protection that fits your life.

Hearing Loss Found

Your audiologist will walk you through your options. This may include hearing aids, support programs, or other next steps.

Your Results

Clear results. A plan you can act on.

After your test, your audiologist creates your personal Audiogram. It shows your results for every test in a simple, clear format.

No matter what we find, you will leave with a clear plan and full support from our team.

The Reality

Unfortunately, hearing loss is rising.

4.6M adults in Canada experience hearing loss (Statistics Canada, 2013)

2 in 5 adults today experience some degree of hearing loss

Hearing loss happens slowly. Most people do not notice until it is too late. The first sign is often struggling to follow a conversation. Friends and family usually notice it before you do.

Hearing loss affects more than just your ears. It can affect your whole life — and the people around you. Our audiologists can help you protect your hearing with the right tools and advice.

Your hearing changes as you age. Loud work, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, or heart problems can make it worse. We suggest a yearly hearing test — especially if you are over 55 or hearing loss runs in your family.

Your Health

Having a hearing test is part of a healthy, active lifestyle.

Do not let fear or worry hold you back. Our audiologists are friendly and easy to talk to. They will give you clear, honest results. You will stay connected to the people you love and keep doing the things you enjoy.
