Ear Wax Week – Day 2

Ear Wax Week – Day 2

Why it may need to be removed

  1. If the entire ear is full of wax it can decrease your hearing. When the canal is full of ear wax sound is not transferred as it should be into the ear. To obtain an accurate hearing test occluding wax should be removed prior the test.
  2. For hearing aid wearers wax may need to be removed more often. Wax from the ear canal can often get into the hearing aid and prevent the hearing aid from working properly. Regular wax removal can help prevent hearing aid repairs due to wax.

But remember wax is a good thing and unless your hearing or hearing aid are affected it is often best left alone! Check back tomorrow for the don’t of Q-tips!
