Wax Removal
Wax removal involves some preparation to soften the wax. Please ensure your patient calls ahead to receive instructions before arriving for their appointment. We recommend using Audiologist Choice drops for 3 nights prior to wax removal. Drops are not recommended for patients with perforated tympanic membranes.
All our clinicians are trained in wax removal using curettes. Additionally, wax removal is offered in our Clayton Park, Gladstone, Dartmouth, South End and Lower Sackville locations using the Gomco Suction Pump.
Wax removal with irrigation is potentially contraindicated in the following patients:
- Perforated tympanic membrane
- History of perforated tympanic membrane
- History of ear surgery
- History of systemic diseases due to increased risk of infection
